I am still looking for shelter and employment for Hillburg, a 51 year-old-man with Asperger's. The situation is getting desperate. Even though he has applied to every listing there has been even close to his field, he still has no job. He will soon be homeless. He is one of those people who could fall through the cracks. He doesn't look disabled, he has not been poor long enough to have Medicaid or long term social services. Of course, this bad economy makes the job situation much worse. is an excellent copy editor and proofreader. He was laid off by McGraw-Hill after 4 years of work with them. He has had a few temp jobs but they don't last long enough to sustain him. also enjoys working with young people with disabilities. He volunteers as a coach for special Olympics and would take a job related to caring for the disabled. is intelligent, polite, responsive and quite hard working. Due to the Asperger's, he has difficulty maintaining consistent eye contact. He's quiet until he gets to know you, not the kind to make jokes or be " the life of the party. " On the other hand, he displays a dry sense of humor when he writes. What needs right away is cheap or free lodgings—a room, a basement studio, a room over the garage.
