Ellen Hello group, I am sure your service facilitator has sent this out – but to be sure, I am posting this notice from DHS here. Partridge DATE: December 5, 2008 TO: HBS Participants Executive Directors, Developmental Disabilities HBS Service Facilitation Providers & Mental Health HBS Service Facilitation Providers FROM: Reta Hoskin, Associate Director Division of Developmental Disabilities SUBJECT: 2009 Children & Adult Home-Based Support Services (HBS) Increases in Monthly Service Maximums __________________________________________________________________ This memo serves to inform you about changes in the HBS monthly maximum amounts that will be effective on January 1, 2009. Monthly Service Maximum As you may be aware, the Social Security Administration has announced a rate increase of 5.8 %, effective January 1, 2009, for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This will affect the monthly amounts for the Home-Based Support Services Program. Individuals enrolled in the Home-Based Support Services Program currently receive services consistent with their individual service plan, with monthly totals not to exceed their respective maximums. Children ages 3 to 17 and young adults who are between the ages of 18 and 21 and enrolled in a Special Education program, currently receive services up to $1,274 per month. This amount will increase to $1,348 per month effective January 1, 2009. The maximum amount for adults ages 22 and older, and adults ages 18 - 21 who are no longer in Special Education, will increase from $1,911 to $2,022 per month effective January 1, 2009. HBS service plans for the month of January 2009 may reflect up to the new maximum amount. Any adjustments must be included in service plans and service agreements. cc: Tony auski, ARC of Illinois Janet Stover, IARF Marie Rucker, CDDACS Don Moss, UCP of Illinois Derrick DuFresne, Institute on Public Policy Charlotte Cronin, Family Support Network ISSA (ISC) agencies Lilia Teninty, Director, Division of Developmental Disabilities Spriggs-Ploessl, Deputy Director, Community Services Network Coordinators, Facilitators and Representatives Tom Armitage, Chief, Bureau of Program and Data Support Nichols, Bureau of Community Reimbursements Tina Seidel, ACES$ Partridge Northern Illinois Field Organizer Managing the Art of Living www.managingtheartofliving.org 815-262-0699
