Guest guest
, I'm in the north east too and am not looking foward to this at all! In NYC, we never get snow days. Hopefully, there will be enough snow to at least give us a day or 2 off from work/school. I too went grocery shopping today and people were buying things like crazy! Well, if we dont lose electricity, we'll get plenty of computer time!
Guest guest
I remember once many years ago when they predicted snow flurries for NYcity and they got 24 inches. You never know. The forecasters here have been talking about it too. I hope it's not too bad. We have gas heat but it doesn't work if the electricity is off, for running the blower. Biggest problem with having it off, either no heat or no A/C. Good luck. Jessie

Guest guest
Lots of rain, lots of thunder and lightening. Thankfully no tornadoes, but we are under a flash flood warning. Looks like it will be done for us by the am, then the temperatures will drop about 20-25 degrees for several days. Hope the storm isn't as they predict. Keep warm! Guest guest
We are hot and expecting well needed rain today. Miami has been under severe water restrictions. Lori in Miami
Guest guest
Hi all, Well, here in Raleigh North Carolina we are going to get something. We are not sure yet but we are in the path. They think we may just get the tip of the storm with the heavy rain Turing to ice and maybe some snow. I can't help but laugh when the weather here gets bad, I lived my whole life on Long Island New York and we are so use to bad weather but down here in the South everything shuts down when they see a snow flake. Not to mention that the food stores are pack to the max, ( I went my regular food shopping Friday so we are stocked up for a while I did get some extra goodies though) they close school ahead of the storm and the people don't know how to drive in the bad weather here. And there the ones who should stay off the roads and stay home. So, I guess we will just wait and see for now. How are all you others doing, getting ready? Good luck to all and lets hope this is the end to winter till next year...... Donna NC 16, BJ 14ds, 10, 15 mos PS~~~BJ is hoping it snows so he can get out of school and play in the snow, he's got all his gear ready and laid out on his chair , and is praying that it doesn't snow cause that means she can't go and drive to see her friends...haha

(those registers along the baseboards are a pain in the rear), but need the electric to pump the water around. But we also have a generator. :-) so don't ever really freeze to death. hehe It did come in handy during the halloween storm 8 or 9 years ago. we didn't get power back for something like 2days. UGH. course our generator conked out, then we took care of his dad's, and when that quit, um he managed to take care of the neighbors, which we'd borrowed to milk the cows. ACK. (and yes we did pay to fix the neighbors generator, lol) Life can be fun sometimes. :-Þ Joy
Guest guest
Here in Massachusetts, they are talking about expecting possibly as much as 3 feet of snow by Tuesday!!! Ugh!!! And it has been so cold! Well, got to make the best of it. Our van is at the garage, since it broke down yesterday. Talk about cabin fever. Guess I'll get out the board games. Josh, my 14 year old is staying at a friends house and coming home any minute. , my 12 year old (DS) is watching TV. I KNOW, electronic baby-sitter! But we do spend lots quality time together, and Mom needs a break. I don't believe I participated in your age roll call. Something I don't like to think about, since I am an older parent. Well, here goes! I am 53, will be 54 April 21st., and my husband is 52, will be 53 on June 28th. Yup I'm a year older than my hubby, something I really don't like to think about. But I do think and look younger LOL. Actually by the time my children came along I had long given up on the idea of having children. I wanted children so badly, but it just wasn't happening, then, SURPRISE!!! and they are the best thing that ever happened to me. I also have three grown step children. Even with all the problems that a blended family has (and we've had our share, I really do feel blessed! At least that's how I feel at this moment, LOL! I,m sorry didn't mean to ramble on so much. In somewhat of a mellow mood today. Nice feeling, though!!! Take care and God bless. Feel free to share with me if you like. Louise
Guest guest
We are wet and cold, . Nothing compared to what you guys are enduring, however. (How can those kids be old enough to marry?) the weather there was so much warmer than what we are used to and there was no snow on the ground. (We left Saturday morning in snow flurries--it snowed all the way to the NY-NJ border--LOL.) The headlines this am were about the blizzard headed this way. We get home and discover that not much is predicted for our area. I'm not sure if I should be happy or upset--LOL. Guest guest
I have to laugh sometimes too. In early winter I talked to a friend in Northern Minnesota (where I'm from) and asked if they had much snow. She said no, just 3 or 4 inches. That's enough to shut down KC. We do get heavier snows here too sometimes but it doesn't take much to make trouble. Of course we more often have ice with it too. Guest guest
Here in Northern VA it has rained all morning and now there is sleet mixed in with the rain. I just got back from taking to CCD. I did run out and purchased candles just in case....... There is no bread and yogart left. Still some milk. I saw folks stocking up on dog food The grocery store was not busy this morning. My middle two have confirmation class this afternoon followed by mass at 6:00 pm. They will miss it, whether it's canceled or not. My oldest baby is home for the week, too. She came home on Friday and plans to return to her boyfriends on Wednesday..then head back to Tech.
Guest guest
Here in the VA piedmont, we are getting drizzly rain at the moment--too warm so far for anything else. The stores were packed yesterday and had their snowshovels and salt all prominently displayed! We are well stocked--biggest real threat here may be strong winds which will blow down the big ole trees and snap power lines or fall across roads. We have candles and firewood for that event. And snow is not unexpected, although being halfway between DC and Richmond, our forecasts are iffy at best--anywhere from light flurries to 4-6 inches. My husband has a project due this week and was sufficiently concerned that he drove up to work today to get all the materials he needs if he has to stay home Mon (IEP meeting on Tues, so he's home again). I just hope that if it does get nasty, people stay home or at least drive like the weather dictates--slow and easy if they have to be out and not at all if they don't really have to. The latest from the weather folks are for up to 2 feet of snow in low lying areas and out where I live 3 feet or more of snow. We'll see... nancy, still feeling somewhat cynical about weather predictions, but already cleaning off 6 inches of snow
