No more Strapping down

Hi All,

Thanks to all the replies to my question to kent about the school strapping

to a chair in the morings. I didn't realize it was illegal, but

obviously the school did. After I got Kents reply to my post I called the

school to see if the Sp ed director had looked into it, I had called her

last week about it. She said she hadn't had time to look into it, yes it

was still being done and it was for s safety. So I told her I wanted

it stopped, I was uncomfortable with it and it wasn't teaching

anything. While I had her on the phone I asked her about getting an aide to

go into the pre K class with him 3 ams a week...he had stopped going because

his teacher lost her aid and there was no one to go with . This was

something his teacher and the pre k teacher set up, so it wasn't on the IEP.

And I asked her to talk to all the Kindy teachers to see which one would be

interested in having in her class next year and to invite her to the

ARD. The sp ed director was very nice and said she would look into all that

and call me back. By that afternoon, she had an aid for in the

morning to watch him in the cafeteria, the same aid to go into the preK

class and had set up time to talk to the Kindy teachers. She was very nice

and thanked me for calling her to get things worked out. I really think she

was just glad I called her and not the sp ed director at the school

board...which I have done a couple of times before.
