Guest guest
Positive Lives The Statesman 3 March 2002 - Kalpana Jain The book presents a raw face of society, one we are afraid to look at, but the author finds redeeming and positive stories to tell as well among the lives of Indians living with HIV and AIDS. Jain is a journalist who took six months' leave from her job with The Times of India, and travelled all over the country on her savings to find out how people are living with the HIV virus. Besides telling moving stories about people afflicted with the virus, the books also uncovers related social issues: the changing sexual mores of the middle class, how poverty affects the spread of HIV, the ambivalent attitude of the government and the medical establishment, and the politics of donors and NGOs. **************************** Dr.Jagdish Harsh ( jharsh@... ) Director of Administration and Operations François-Xavier Bagnoud (INDIA) ( www.fxb.org ) 161,Satya Niketan Moti Bagh-II ______________________________________
