First Global Civil Society Petition for AIDS orphans

" Your signature is worth a life "

There is nothing fanciful about it - in 2010, AIDS will have left at least 100

million orphans in its tragic wake. Already today there are 13 million of them.

This disaster is without precedent in the history of humankind.

Please sign this manifesto, which can act as a powerful incentive for all

governments of the world to act without waiting for the worst to happen

a.. by creating as a matter of the utmost urgency structures to take in, care

for, and educate these children

b.. by applying and respecting the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which

they have signed. In order to underline the importance of urgent concerted

action, this manifesto will be officially presented to the United Nations

General Assembly in May 2002 in New York.
