Guest guest
Several people have mentioned that there are good oils out there besides Young Living. I'd really appreciate the name of a company. Or two or three. I've been told Aura Cacia (I may be spelling that wrong) which my co-op sells, is low grade. How does one find really high grade oils and discern that they are so? I understand Young Living has a cancer treatment center in South America where they use the oils iv. Very expensive I have heard. The problem with so many multi-levels, and so many things in general, is the " true believer " syndrome. People who believe in X and pretty much only X ... and whose eyes glaze over when you talk about anything else. We're a " true believer " culture ... we're not trained to actually think, just to absorb and regurgitate. And this holds true in alternative as well as mainstream medicine. Oh I think I'm getting on a bit of a soapbox here ... better sign off. Grin. Angel
Guest guest
FYI, most people who suffer from MCS cannot tolerate any essential oils. Those of us who have MCS know this for a fact, as do the MD's who treat us. It take s a pretty good diet and intestinal functino to get adequate amts of this mineral. And as a supplement, when is the last time someone told you to use this? Whosoever you are using for advice, if they dont have a strong handle on liver chemistry and physiology, then you are receiving inferior advice. The proof is in the pudding, yes. Now, that geing said, of course it is possible that there are other aromatic compounds which you are also sensitive to. But the point is simple. If you can smell flowers and evergreen trees and what not, then you can handle their oils. Note that all ess oils are not created equally, just like herbal products most asssuredly are not. There is a wide variety of qualities, and the results are substances with altered properties, from what is 'supposed to be'. So, exercise caution, but for your sake, and others, dont write off the entire field of essential oil therapy, as it one of the most powerful on the planet. scott _____ On Behalf Of Gingersnap1964@... <mailto:Gingersnap1964%40AOL.COM> Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2011 11:28 AM <mailto:%40> Subject: Re: [] essential oils do they smell? Guest guest
I do know that essential oils can improve air quality and/or at least do what you said, enter the body the same way the microbials did and do healing. I have some essential oils but have not been able to use them too much as I am so sensitive to these things. I really hope to be able to use them more again some day, I know it really helps. So happy to hear about the way it helped you. I'm sure they can help all of us who are able to tolerate them. Thanks for sharing and for the reminder. anita
Guest guest
Oils have been discussed, try searching the archives. NEVER diffuse oils into the air when you have respiratory issues, or don't know what the oils will do. I am an environmental health specialist (industrial hygiene), and the idea of pumping oil droplets or vapors or voc's (via heat or diffusion or spray) completely flabergasts me. It's no different than using glade plugins! Do not do it. Also, many naturally occurring plant oils have antimicrobial properties. Don't get caught up in the marketing of the wholistic-alt-med-new-age sell you the latest oil-of-the--week scams. (find an EPA approved disinfecant or fungicide if you really insist on 'killing' the mold.) Always ask, why do I need to kill it if I can just clean it away? Please read the archives regarding cleaning and removing mold instead of killing it. It's complicated and detailed, but we have clear instructions for each case. Yours is not special, we only need the details to outline a response. Do NOT spray or fog or fumigate or otherwise attempt to " kill " airborne spores/fragments. consider cleaning and ventilating with proper equipment. > > i stumbled across some research that stated that essential oils have properties that kill mold. will post an article later.
