Several of mine have had roseola and I was never told it was highly

contagious. I kept right on about our everyday business and the other kids

in the house that had never had it did not got it. Never had more than one

with it at the time and only 3 of 10 had it as infants. Fever for a day or

two and rash for about a week I think. >>

Nimet had roseola when she was about 13mo.Handled the fever fine, but the

first night of the rash she screamed like there was no tomorrow and then was

fine the next few days.I read through pubMed JA's(and talked to others) and

think she had post-viral encephalitis.Poor baby! She seems fine, but I still

wish I could have done more.Any suggestions from the masses on how to treat

PVE should it occur again.

And anyone know why it might have occured?

Oh and I just wanted to mention(not to scare) that children do die from

roseola related complications, and I bet you there will be a vaccine for this

mild childhood disease too.

Would I vaccinate future children because my first had complications? NO.

Hope no one thinks that is cruel!

Sara, Just wondering if the children who died from roseola complications

were being treated somehow, say with analgesics? Sandy

You know, lots of these deaths occured when people just did nothing feeling

God knew best. Some die today due to the parents not realizing the child

needs some treatment from home or MD if they do not know how. You would be

surprised at how amny do not get treatment when needed. Homepathic, Herbal,

etc. I have a friend that her dd was running a fever of 105.6 for days and

she did nothing but keep her in bed. Said it was an allergic reaction to bug

spray that must have been sprayed in the store they had gone too.

Just common sense home treatment of most things will prevent permanant

complications and death in lots of cases.

Love and Blessings,

Ellen
