Guest guest
Hi all, My sister and her kids have a wonderful flock of chickens, a few of whom are getting sick with a mysterious illness which gives them diarrhea and kills some of them. I'm wondering about treating them with MMS and if anyone knows what the dose would be for a chicken? MMS sounds like something that could help here, and my little niece and nephew sure would be happy if their chicken friends came back to health! thanks, Suzy
Guest guest
Hi Suzy, I don't know about using MMS...others here probably know more. I read that one reason that Avian Flu is more frequent in China is because the soil is deficient in selenium. Perhaps supplementing with selenium would help? Guest guest
thanks Avril, I remember that when my dad had sheep on the land, he found out that our soil was selenium deficient and used to give the sheep selenium salt licks. Guest guest
Here is an interesting artical you might find useful. Sharon Feeding Sodium Chlorate to Livestock To Kill Salmonella and E. coli - Brief Article http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3741/is_3_49/ai_72613113 McGraw When fed in low doses, sodium chlorate kills Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli O157:H7 in pigs and cows. Agricultural Research Service scientists in College Station, Texas, have shown that levels of these harmful bacteria can be reduced in the intestinal tract of pigs and cows if they're given sodium chlorate before slaughter. " Because the gut and lymph tissue of meat animals and chickens are major reservoirs for Salmonella and E. coli O157:H7, this research offers a practical approach for reducing on-farm concentrations of these pathogens, " says J. Nisbet, an ARS microbiologist and research leader for the Food and Feed Safety Research Unit in College Station. Fewer bacterial pathogens in the gut can significantly reduce the chance of carcass contamination during food processing. These two bacteria--culprits in most cases of human food poisoning-- can live both aerobically and anaerobically, that is, with or without air. That makes them different from most gut bacteria, which are anaerobes. > > Hi all, > My sister and her kids have a wonderful flock of chickens, a few of > whom are getting sick with a mysterious illness which gives them > diarrhea and kills some of them. Guest guest
thanks kindly Sharon, interesting article. Would one drop of activated MMS shared among a few chickens be an adequate dose? Don't want to overdo it and hurt them further, but do want to kill off whatever pathogen is after them. thanks, Suzy Sharon wrote: > > Here is an interesting artical you might find useful. > > Sharon > > Feeding Sodium Chlorate to Livestock To Kill Salmonella and E. coli - > Brief Article > > http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3741/is_3_49/ai_72613113 > <http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3741/is_3_49/ai_72613113> > > McGraw > When fed in low doses, sodium chlorate kills Salmonella typhimurium > and Escherichia coli O157:H7 in pigs and cows. Guest guest
I'd try adding the MMS directly to their water. The MMS can activate in plain water, it just takes longer, but it also isn't used up so fast. Jim H said that if activated in water, in 24 hours it was activated as much as when we add acids and wait our 3 minutes. So it would work as a time release. Also, he had some good effects with some of his malaria groups without activation with acids, just taking the stuff with water. Guest guest
This makes sense to be as the original stabilized oxygen products were effective for some people and they are just sodium chlorite in water. Guest guest
I'm sorry I don't know how much to give them but my guess is that it depends on the amount of water and the weight of the birds. My belief is given the right dose it would work like a charm and no antibiotics would be needed. I did give the MMS to my dog and I did see improvement. She had a lot of energy after about four or five days of MMS. I gave her nine drops (she weighs 80 lbs)activated with lime juice and disguised in chicken broth. She drank it up like the WH staff drinks Kool Aid, LOL. You might try and contact the author of the article as I think she works for the government and may be able to give you an appropriate amount.
