Dear Bill,

she followed a hyper fractionated radiation therapy, which meant to go to

the hospital here in Bern, Switzerland, 66 times, once in the morning,

once in the late afternoon, 5 days a week, over a period of almost 7 weeks.

The therapy ended last week and she is recuperating somewhat. Unfortunately

the diagnosed tumor is of a diffuse type (brain stem astrocytoma) and

causes substantial symptoms: she has lost her balance, her fine movements

are only possible with a lot of concentration and her right arm is affected

as well. Her eyesight is also affected.

The target of the therapy: to stop the further growth of the tumor. We will

have a comparing MRI by the end of October, to see what the result is.

The therapy, accompanied by a cortisone treatment made her loose aprox 15

percent of her body weight with a substantial muscle shrinking, although

she never lacked of apetite and we changed completely our diet: no animal

fat, no heavily treated goods, no sugar, no alcohol nor coffeine etc.

Before the symptoms became acute (June 6th) she was a keen sportswoman,

doing lots of aerobics, joggind, biking, hiking, snowboarding and skiing.

She is now gaining some lb's back.

This however I attribute to the dietary change we underwent when the tumor

was diagnosed through biopsy on July 6th. We largely followed the book by

Quillin/:Beating Cancer with Nutrition; however, no concentrated or

pill type nutritional supplementation.

If you feel like telling us more about your BT and how you survived, we

would greatly apreciate a response...
