Guest guest
Hi, I don't seem to have many symptoms of HCV - no inflammation but my appetite could be a little better. I'm trying to get over the effects of Stevia, that I used for 2 or 3 weeks but stopped 2 weeks or so ago. My bowel transit time is only about 12 hours and I don't absorb minerals as good as I could because of Stevia. If it wasn't for that, I think I'd be doing better. I'd rather not talk about what my ALT/AST are, or were, but thank you for asking. Guest guest
i think my bowel transit time has been somewhere around 12 hours most of my life. should it take longer for the trip from end to end? downsides to stevia? feel like elaborating, or have a link to something to read about that? i don't use it, but my housemate does. she's doing a lot of alt stuff to deal with BC and prevent it's recurrence, and if there's some stevia effect that might mess with that she should know. > [ ] Re: HCV ...started mms > > > Hi, > > I don't seem to have many symptoms of HCV - no inflammation but my > appetite could be a little better. > > I'm trying to get over the effects of Stevia, that I used for 2 or 3 > weeks but stopped 2 weeks or so ago. Guest guest
I think it should take longer for me, as mine has not usually been that fast. That's what Stevia did to me. The steviosides seemed to build up in my body and made me feel like crap. I emailed a holistic MD I know about it and he told me it can take up to three months to shake off the effects of stevia. It seems to be OK for many, but not me. > > i think my bowel transit time has been somewhere around 12 hours most of my > life. should it take longer for the trip from end to end? > > downsides to stevia? > > feel like elaborating, or have a link to something to read about that? > i don't use it, but my housemate does. she's doing a lot of alt stuff to > deal with BC and prevent it's recurrence, and if there's some stevia effect > that might mess with that she should know. > > >
Guest guest
tony, I have never read anything about stevia being negative. can you elaborate? thanks JMO > > > > the VL fluctuates a lot. that's not too awful bad a number at all. > how are > > the alt/ast? > > how are you for symptoms? > > i agree, you can lower if not eliminate the viral load, protect and help > > regenerate the liver, and mostly live well with HCV by managing it. > lots > > of things to try and to do and to not do. > > > > > >
Guest guest
Stevia gave me GI symptoms. It lessened my bowel transit time and it's still going on and it's been 2 weeks since I stopped taking it. Dr. Larry , a holistic MD was not surprised to hear I had problems with Stevia. He told me I should be over the symptoms within 3 months. I threw my Stevia away, and I will not use it again, that's for sure. I've read that Steviosides are mutagenic to rats. Guest guest
Oh, lovely! Not! Just when I thought I had found a safe, low glycemic sweetener. <sigh> Someone on another forum said that stevia raises blood sugar levels. She suggested a new, " natural " sweetener called Just Like Sugar. I have not checked into it. Avril In , " tonytaptoe " <joe525us@...> wrote: > > Stevia gave me GI symptoms. Guest guest
have you found anyother natural sweetner that does not bother you. Guest guest
No I haven't. I'll go back to using banana or some other fruit if/when I want sweetness. I was adding stevia to frozen blackberries and yogurt, and whizzing it in a food processor to make ice yogurt. > > have you found anyother natural sweetner that does not bother you. > > JMO > > >
Guest guest
I would research some more. It does not raise blood sugar. I am very sensitive to sugar and I use it everyday in my yea and yogurt. S -- [ ] Re: HCV ...started mms Oh, lovely! Not! Guest guest
I use Stevia and haven't had a problem with it. I am diabetic but controlling my blood sugar without medication or insulin. ( Drives my doctor nute:) Stevia does not raise my blood sugar. I also use erythritol as a sweetner. It doesn't raise my blood sugar either. Okie Avril wrote: Oh, lovely! Not! Guest guest
Stevia does not raise blood sugar. However, if you're using a powdered version you need to be aware of what else might be in it. I prefer the Sweetleaf brand (www.sweetleaf.com) which contains FOS (fructooligosaccharides). The FOS is considered a probiotic enhancer. As such it is " food " for the friendly flora in the intestines and helps to increase their numbers in the body.FOS from inulin is recommended by Dr. Wong (www.totalityofbeing.com) for treatment of candida problems. Some people who have an overgrowth of candida may experience some gas and/or bloating from inulin(FOS). Other stevia brands are much like Equal, Splenda etc.in that they ALL contain maltodextrin which is higher on the glycemic index than sugar or white bread. I have long wondered why any company who makes stevia would adulterate it with maltodextrin when maltodextrin shoots your blood sugar right up. If you've got a box you might notice a warning on the box about stevia being safe for diabetics and maltodextrin being used on the advice of your physician. If you're using a liquid then all you're getting is stevia (in an alcohol or water base). Regards, Dawn -- In , " susan " <ssiegel5@...> wrote: > > I would research some more.
