A couple of thoughts

Hi,

From recent posts I thought I would add an idea or two.

From what I have read, the idea of mixing the Flaxseed oil and the cottage

cheese was to let the oil dissolve into the protein source to make it water

soluble and more available to the body.

There was some time that I thought I would just eat half the cottage cheese,

put the oil in my mouth and wash it down with grape juice [that way there

is no taste at all] and then eat the rest of the cottage cheese. It seemed

logical that my stomach could do the mixing.

That still seems logical, except I am not certain. I think if I took that

approach, I would make sure I did the first one an hour or so before

breakfast so there wouldn't be anything else in my stomach. If I did it at

meal time there would be a lot of other things mixing with the oil and I

doubt if it would be effective. I would do an other amouints an hour or so

before meals.

I would alse add a capsule of plant origin digestive enzymes which have been

shown to increase absorption of EFAs by as much as 70% in tests at The Mayo

Clinic over two years.

Recently a friend noted that in analysis of foods by the USDA that Soy

protein has some of the same sulfur based proteins that cottage cheese does

only more. I also read of the value of whey protein.

Also lately on one list or someplace there was an account of recent studies

that showed that a combination of whey protein and Soy protein alone showed

quite a little effectiveness in the prevention of breast cancer.

On the basis of that information I have added a tablespoon of whey protein

and a tablespoon of Soy proetin to a half a glass or so of milk and use part

of it each time I use the oil and cottage cheese. That may enhance the

total effect. I don't know, but as the lady in The Bronx said, " It can't

hoit " .

If my PSA goes farther down, I will do some more experimenting. Big " if " ,

we will have to see.

Cliff
