Guest guest
On December 7, 2000, this letter was first posted to the Internet. It primarily concerns Cancer and the Shiitake mushroom. I have added my posting of December 6, 'The mystery of the missing entry' in which I discuss Cancer and Leukemia. (I have done this for the sake of convenience. I do not know how many more times I am going to have to re-post these letters in the future in order to focus everyone's attention upon the fact that, in my opinion, the cure for Cancer is presently available, and the world should take advantage of it.) Hello everyone, It is my impression that the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is sympathetic to the idea of conducting Cancer clinical trials of an unusual nature. CAM's Fall 2000 Bulletin states: " A trial is under way at Columbia University in New York City comparing the /Kelley regimen of pancreatic proteolytic enzymes plus intense nutritional support with the more conventional chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. " " A multicenter, U.S.-Canadian trial is testing the safety and efficacy of shark cartilage versus conventional chemotherapy plus radiation therapy for non-small-cell lung cancer. " " Several studies are addressing the effect of diet on both prostate cancer and breast cancer. " On November 14, 2000, I wrote to CAM's Director, E. Straus, M.D., suggesting that a 1979 Spanish clinical trial should be repeated. These results were achieved after Thioproline (alone) had been administered to Cancer patients - " .....Definite signs of activity were observed...in other solid tumours, such as breast, renal, ovary, thyroid, and parotid cancer. " Only tumour cells were affected - " .....no effect was observed in the normal skin, mucosae, or other epithelial tissues..... " " .....Histological studies showed involution and transformation into low-grade malignancies and disappearance of evidence of cancer. " Like all chemotherapeutic agents, Thioproline has a degree of toxicity (However, the pain reliever, 'Tylenol', is more toxic!). My research has demonstrated that vitamin C neutralizes the toxicity of Thioproline. I hope that Dr. Straus or someone in the world will order a repeat of the 1979 Spanish clinical trial, but this time the Cancer patients would be administered 'mega-doses' of Thioproline and vitamin C. 98% to 99% pure Thioproline is available at the following locations in the United States - Alfa Aesar Consult Alfa Aesar Online Catalog A Matthey Catalog Company, Inc. (This website describes treatments for Cancer, AIDS, Alcohol Abuse, Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) and Macular degeneration - vision loss.) I am no chemist, but Thioproline looks easy to prepare. Ratner first described its preparation in the journal of the 'American Chemical Society', January, 1937, page 203: " Thiazolidine-4-carboxylic Acid. - The cysteine hydrochloride from 30 g. of cystine was dissolved in 100 cc. of water; 22 cc. of commercial 40% formaldehyde (1.1 mole) was added, and the mixture allowed to stand overnight at room temperature. On the addition of 25cc. of pyridine, crystals soon separated. The whole was diluted with 50 cc. of alcohol and filtered. The product (28.2 g.) was recrystallized from hot water. The resulting long, colorless needles, which melt with decomposition at 196-197 degrees, are insoluble in alcohol, somewhat soluble in cold water, readily soluble in hot water, in acid and alkali. " * HAZARD ALERT: Formaldehyde is an alleged carcinogen and a strong irritant; avoid breathing vapor and avoid skin contact. Use a fume hood. Thioproline (4-thiazolidine-carboxylic acid) contains 'anti-cancer molecules'; refer to MEDLINE, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed, UI: 88098591: " The charge distribution of anti-cancer molecules 4-thiazolidine-carboxylic acid and 2-amino-2-thiazoline hydrochloride was calculated with a CNDO/2 semiempiral quantam mechanic method. The activity seems to be related with the formation of Zn2+ and Mn2+ ions. Both molecules show local isosterism, origin of their chelating properties. " My only question of this abstract is - Should 'semiempiral' read 'semiempirical'? B. In all of nature, the Shiitake mushroom is one of the only foods that contains Thioproline; refer to MEDLINE, UI: 91310113: " ...Recently, we found thioproline in various cooked foods, including cod and dried shiitake mushrooms... " C. In China and Japan, what have been the anti-Cancer results of using the Shiitake mushroom? " ...in China and Japan, shiitake mushrooms have been used for hundreds of years as cancer-fighting agents... " , " Shiitake mushroom is believed to counteract stomach and cervical cancers...in October 1985...a new product containing the extract from shiitake mushroom had been approved by the Japanese government as an anti-cancerous agent.; the effectiveness of the shiitake mushroom " in treating cancer has been reported in a joint study by the Medical Department of Koibe University and Nippon Kinoko Institute in Japan... " ; " And extracts from Shiitake mushroom are found to have anti-cancer properties. In fact, in Japan, extracts from this mushroom are one of the leading prescription treatments for cancer. " D. In addition to their present treatment, shouldn't all Cancer patients be told about the Shiitake mushroom? The complete text of my December 6, 2000, posting 'The mystery of the missing entry' - Hello everyone, (My Post Script deals with Leukemia.) In response to my December 3 posting, 'Thioproline - a Cancer cure?', moonbeam@... wrote: " Hi, you say that Thioproline is not cited in the MEDLINE, yet I found 138 MEDLINE references to this compound. " Moonbeam, you are exactly right; however, why aren't there 139 references? Where is the citation to the March, 1979 article written by Gosalvez?; my posting contains the complete abstract (refer to AACR ABSTRACTS, 1979); one typing mistake: " .....Thus " re- verse transformation " seems to take place by a cyclic..... " should read: " .....This " re- verse transformation " seems to take place by a cyclic..... " I wish to reiterate - this research of Gosalvez is " ...one of the greatest anti-Cancer discoveries of all time... " , and it is not cited in MEDLINE ! In March, 1979, Dr. Gosalvez stated that out of 500 compounds tested, Thioproline (Thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid) showed the most promising anti-Cancer potential and speculated that it " ...could represent the first non-cytotoxic anticancer agent which has the plasma membrane as target. " Don't forget, his research had been " Supported by the U.S. National Cancer Institute, contract NO1-CM-53792. " Later in 1979, Dr. Gosalvez and Dr. Brugarolas administered Thioproline to Cancer patients in Spain and achieved these results that were reported in one of the world's foremost medical journals 'The Lancet': " .....Definite signs of activity were observed...in other solid tumours, such as breast, renal, ovary, thyroid, and parotid cancer. " Only tumour cells were affected - " .....no effect was observed in the normal skin, mucosae, or other epithelial tissues..... " " .....Histological studies showed involution and transformation into low-grade malignancies and disappearance of evidence of cancer. " What did the United States National Cancer Institute do after it received these marvelous results? IT FUNDED A FOLLOW UP STUDY ON RATS AND MICE ! In my opinion, the scientific community put forth a puny, paltry effort to take advantage of the Spanish anti-Cancer discovery. Consequently, the medical community settled for scanty, skimpy research in reaching its decision to abandon interest in Thioproline as a possible Cancer cure. As a result of this feeble, futile, feckless, abortive research effort, a negative light was cast upon Thioproline that the world has been doomed to live with throughout the past two decades. All of the sad details are in my November 7, 1999, posting, 'To Dr. Varmus, Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH)', that I will eMail to anyone upon request. In a final answer to his critics, Gosalvez, the primary discoverer of the anti-Cancer potentiality of Thioproline, had these poignant words: " .....However, reports of our later work given at scientific meetings or in the pipeline, confirm that thioproline does induce reverse transformation and that the whole concept, despite its complexities, is promising. " " .....disappearance of evidence of cancer. " These words should forever be linked with the names of Gosalvez and Brugarolas. Many immune boosters work synergistically with vitamin C. " I have stated in the past that 'mega-doses' of d-penicillamine plus copper & vitamin C might be the cure for Leukemia; my reasoning - a.
