of following analysis is welcome. Moderator]

I am very much thankful to you that you have given me encoureging response

especially mrs redium and dr. vijay bhatt i herewith give you some more about

the trible sex worker.

(a ) AGE - GROUP : Belonging to 15 to 45 years

( MARITAL STATUS : About 40 % are married ,with 4 to 6 family members in

the family ,asHusband , childrens , father in- law , mother -in law but no

Brothers & sisters staying at home. Also ,20 % unmarried girls,And 40 % widows

are engaged in this activity.

( c ) EDUCATIONAL : Mostly illiterates ,

with some exception ,of primary education upto LEVEL 4 th class.

( d ) RELIGION : Hindu

( e ) CASTE: : Majority are tribals while others

patelia , Harijans,Koli ,etc

( f ) INCOME GENERATIVE OCCUPATION :

GROUP -I : Mostly sexual activities

GROUP -II : Labourers in construction sites , shops etc.

Income generated / month : Approximately Rs.1000 to 1200 /- from income

generation occupations . About 500 to 800 / - from other activities as

illegal sexual activities.

( g ) Place of orgin :Majority ,from nearby villages located at distance of

20 to 25 kms from DAHOD - URBAN - AREA

(h)Reason for coming to Dahod Urban for work : Majority of these people

,depends on agriculture but due to inadequate water availability , lack of

modern irrigation facilities , illiteracy , lack of knowledge leads them to

migrate from their home town.

(I ) Reason for entering into this profession : Women, who are not in

position to work in construction sites , industries and Those who do not get

work for any particular day , and who cannot meet The family necessities with

given source of income. they prefer sexual activity Since income from

other activities is less. Within 10 to 15 minutes with sexual Activities they

earns Rs. 50/ day , while for other activities,they work for the Whole day &

earn

Rs. 50/ day

( J) Modus operandi for getting the clients: it is seen that during

morning time , when P.S.H and co -labourers come for work , they wait for the

Contractors to get the work and at that time , all contracts are made. Those

women engaged in sexual activities have following modus operandi :

( a ) Meeting place at morning time : Gaushala chowk

b ) Cinema viewing between 12 to 3 or 3 to 6 pm i.e lunch hour

( c ) After viewing , move to Darpan area or place where they usually undergo

this activity.

CULTURAL ASPECT :

A typical social tradition is prevalent in tribal community in which dowry

is to be

Given to bride from bridegroom family . For this , they borrow money from

money lenders Who in turn exploit them after marriage in which they

involve their wives in illegal sexual Activities with others. Also, during

marriages these people have to compulsory give a Chandla ( a gift ) which

Amounts to Rs. 25000 to 50,000 to bride & bridegroom family and again for

raising this money

They take credits from money lenders . To pay back the money, they allow their

wives for illegal Relationships.Illiteracy leads them towards Myths &

Misconception for sex.

The Socio-econonmic profile of gujarat's tribale sex workeris very interesting.

Anybody is working with the males (using the term " males " as to include various

age groups) selling sexual services to other males, either as a full time

occupation or as a side income or as a more casual occupation that some

undertake from time to time?

Would be interested in learning about that.
