Guest guest
Hi This is in relation to the eFORUM message on the use of MIS / HIS in AIDS Prevention and Care Projects in India. I am now the point person for HIV/AIDS issues in UNDCP, and a member of the UNAIDS virtual team in India. I like the idea of starting a directory of resources and resource persons working in Information Management. The generic idea is to bring quality to care and decision making and also to provide information for action- strategic thinking, analyzing gaps etc. I am commited to this as I see this as a primary need especially in developing country contexts as we have scarce resources, large number of affected people and differentials in culture, geography and the epidemic. Having previously worked poverty programs with CARE and surveillance issues regarding polio with WHO, I am of the opinion that GIS is a must in any MIS/HIS. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Chaudhry: I think its a good idea to have a directory of Resource Persons experiencd in developing MIS/HIS in AIDS prevention and care activities in India. However, what mechanism do you plan to have for that. Could UNDP take an initiative ? My concern is also realated to networking that would hasten the process . This is only a suggestion.
