Guest guest
Welcome Kim! I am sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis but I am glad you are reaching out and getting help and support. I have a 6 yr old son who was diagnosed with ADHD at 4 and OCD at 6 yrs old. It is a depressing thing! But I can tell you that things will get better for your son with the proper treatment! Untreated ADHD and OCD is a terrible state to be in for your son and the family. Hang in there and do what you have to do to help your son out! Guest guest
HI, KIm!! This is Kathy G. I am one of the owners of this wonderful group. I was so glad to see that everyone has been answering your questions...it doesn't surprise me at all....since we have a great bunch of folks here!!! I am sorry that I haven't mailed you until now. I have been having a multitude of family emergencies and my own pain issues have been quite horrific lately, but I am back online now...so how are you, hon? I have two stims....one for RSD of the arms and one for RSD of the legs. I too, had a pain pump which I loved. I am so very sorry to hear that you had such a horrible experience with your hospital stay!! SHAME ON THEM!! They are there to take care of their patients and do no harm...cruelty and rudeness to a chronic pain patient is harm in my book. Please know that not all hospitals are like that. You can be upfront with your doctor and tell him/her of your horrible experience and fear that it will occur again...I am sure that he/she will reasure you that it will NOT. Most floors have compassionate, caring and professional staff members on them. I have had such nightmares with some nurses that would make your skin crawl, and then some stories of such loving, giving and wonderful people that would bring you to tears of happiness...truly touching. I myself have had RSD now for 25 years. I have been in and out of all different hospitals in the past 25 years, but for the most part, I have found kind, loving and caring professionals. Every now and then, unforutanly, you get the stinker that you had..that leaves a really bad taste in your mouth and gives a fear of reacuurence. If for any reason, you are not happy with the nursing staff, you have the RIGHT to ask for the nursing supervisor on call come into your room immediately. I guantee you that any problems will be stopped right there. I had to do this once and the changes that took place were unbelievable!! As for the pain...you also have the right to be pain free...or as close to pain free as possible! They should ask you to describe the pain for you by using the pain scale. 0 means no pain at all...and 10 is such horrible pain you can't take it...it is hell. From this scale, the nurses can tell the doctors how the pain meds are helping you. Thanks to the pain pump, when they get the right dosage, you really will be amazed at the pain relief...at least I was with regards to the control of the horrific spasms that I was having. Most folks that I talk to have had a positive outcome also. I hope some of these things have helped you. Please know that I am ALWAYS available to talk to...just email me @ _KGavi@..._ (mailto:KGavi@...) or _Eyes4Lenny@..._ (mailto:Eyes4Lenny@...) . If you are having a really tough time...you can call me on my cell. I have made this number available to all the group members...this mainly is for the group to call....(215) 783-9066. If I don't answer right away, I will call you back within an hour. I hope that you are feeling better and know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish pain free days for us all and sleep filled nights....wouldn't that be great! Gentle hugs to all, Kathy G.
