Guest guest
Hi Mike, So sorry to hear your pain has gotten worse. I know what you mean. I think it is the cold weather. Doctors have upped my patch to every 36 hours now, so I went from 100 mcg every 48 to 100 mcg every 36 hours. I think they really need to up your patch if I remember right you are only on 50 mcg every 48 hours and I am still taking quick release morphine every 6 hour for break through pain. Family doctor still wants to wait another month before he will give me the ok for the pain pump. I can't wait to get off some of these drugs, I feel like I live in a constant fog. Hang in there Mike they will find something to give you some relief. I'll be praying for you. Guest guest
Just a quick check in. I'm not doing well, the migraines are not settling down at all. I went for two days without no pain at all to where I could manage and function then WHAM the migraines came back and I have not been able to do much of anything. I spend most of my time sleeping, due to the high pain killers I'm taking. If I'm not sleeping, I'm laying down on the couch with ice on my temple because that is the only thing that keeps things settled down. Computer time has basically been nill for the past three days so when I did log on. At any rate, I go back to see my neurologist on Dec 11th. I am doing okay at the moment so I am going to take advantage of it and check a few more email posts before needing to close the lid on my laptop again. I will check back as I can. I hope everyone has a pain free Thanksgiving. Regards, Sue Elvins, Web Designer apageor2.com
Guest guest
Sue You may have tried this already but if not it wont hurt to try for your migraines. I have had them for years and could not function at times due to them. I have searched hi and low for alternatives to meds for them since like u say either u are drugged or sleeping or with some of them I am awake for days on the dang migraine meds. Anyway i found this somewhere, I have forgotten where but it worked for me and many others i have told about it. Run a hot bath tub as hot as you can stand to get in it. Run it deep too. Get in the water and get an ice pack put on the back of your neck while you soak in the tub. The ice shrinks the vessels in the head that are spasming which causes the migraine. The hot water draws the blood out of the head and allows the vessels to go back to normal size so they quit that awful cycle that causes the headaches. Also ice on the back of your neck will hellp numb the whole head its better than just keeping it on the temple It does something to the brain stem that triggers pain releases HTH good luck I hate migraines! Guest guest
My previous pain management doctor told me to make sure I drink as much as I can when I have a migraine. Water that is. LOL He worked ER part time also and he said when patients came in with bad migraines he would give them something for the pain and pump a bag of IV fluids through them as quickly as possible. He said the IV fluids helped. Something to do with expanding blood vessels. He said people with migraines are usually dehydrated because the migraine medicines make them sleep and they don't drink enough fluids. I've tried keeping a bottle of water by my bed when I have a migraine and taking a drink everytime I wake up. It seems to help. I would assume the hot bath and ice pack has a similar effect. My sister has started haveing some kind of headaches. The way she describes them I think they are migraines, but she hasn't been to a doctor for them. When she gets the headaches she lays in her bed with a pillow over her head and a heat pad or warm moist towel one. I don't remember exactly what she does, but she says warm moist heat helps her headaches get better. > > Sue > You may have tried this already but if not it wont hurt to try for your migraines.
