Guest guest
OH so sorry that happened to you Mike and I would never have thought of that happening had you not posted that. So what in the stimulator makes the security alarm go off? Did they give you a hard time about it? I know I would have been upset if that happened to me! Hope you are ok! Guest guest
I've never set off an alarm anywhere. However, someone stopped me to talk one day as I was entering walmart. They just happened to stop me as I come through the door by the security thing. Apparently I got a little to close and my stimulator started acting strange. It would get strong, weak, strong, weak. I've actually had this happen twice, the first time it scared me because I didn't know what was going on. > > at least we know that walmart security is on...I have had so many alarms go > off due to my stim....and I had my first one put in 15 years ago....not many > folks believed me back then..I had to show them my card we carry in our > wallet.. > > Kmart never goes off..but walmart, Target and especially the worst is family > court and the airport...oh dear lord....they think that I am a terrorist > down there...I have more damned metal in me LOL two stims, pain pump, rods in > my ankle and pins in my wrist...we are all like the bionic chick and dude...lol > > hang in mike... > > Love ya lots > > Kathy > Co-Owner > **************One site has it all. Guest guest
Because the magnet in the security can effect the computer chip in my pump I never go through security at the airport. I simply tell them that I need the handheld wand, place my hand over the area where my pump is and ask that they not wand that area. They have never given my any problems. Guest guest
Hi, I know what you mean about being to close to those security things the grocery store that we shop at has one right at the register when you go through the line and when I still had my SCS in I was standing there writing a check and my stimulator went crazy it started going up really high and I could not control what I was doing, I was unable to write my check. My sister got so scared she said what is wrong I said I don't know my stimulator is going crazy I felt like I was have a seizure then I turned around and saw that I was standing right in between two of those security bars. My sister and the cashier had to walk me to a seat and I had to have my sister shut the unit off before it would stop. That was the worst feeling in the world, I felt helpless. I was so glad I was not alone. As for the airport I had a ID card that I had to show to the airport scanners and they would have me walk through and then if I beeped they would run the scanner over my back and bottom and send me on my way. Guest guest
most times, there isn't a problem, unless you have a rookie security guard at the post. I have had my stim for over 15 years now and for the most part...have never had a problem....I went through several metal detectors....aka security at airports, stores...etc..and it never ever bothered my pump. The scary thing is this to me...I have been in my wheelchair at let's say a sporting event....and they do not even move the wand over me...they never ask me to stand up, if possible to pat me down, or anything...for all they know, I could be a crazed terrorist using the wheelchair as a ploy to get in...I called the arena each time this happened and reported it...I appreciated the officers trying to be nice to me and trying to be kind to me...but in this day and age....that is not the thing to do!! Guest guest
That's kind of scary to think about. Will terrorist start posing as disabled people to get through security? I'm glad you report that. Everyone needs to be checked at security. You're right about that not being the right thing to do in this day and age. > > most times, there isn't a problem, unless you have a rookie security guard > at the post. > > I have had my stim for over 15 years now and for the most part...have never > had a problem....I went through several metal detectors....aka security at > airports, stores...etc..and it never ever bothered my pump. > > The scary thing is this to me...I have been in my wheelchair at let's say a > sporting event....and they do not even move the wand over me...they never ask > me to stand up, if possible to pat me down, or anything...for all they know, > I could be a crazed terrorist using the wheelchair as a ploy to get in...I > called the arena each time this happened and reported it...I appreciated the > officers trying to be nice to me and trying to be kind to me...but in this day > and age....that is not the thing to do!! > > Kathy > **************Life should be easier.
