Guest guest
Don't give up!!!!! I had my trial stimulator put in the day after Christmas!!!!! No joke! I was shocked they were even working that week. So there is still hope, and it's a quick surgery so hopefully your doctor will be able to get you squeezed in. Good luck. Take Care, B. in TEXAS Update On My Update Ugggh The Plot Thickens So as I stated in my last update I expected calls tomorrow from my rep. Imagine my surprise when at almost 10pm tonight I get a call from a strange number. I answer it and its the initial Medtronics rep who had handled my pre approval for my trial. I mean who in their right mind calls up people about business matters at almost 10pm at night? A lot of people I know are in bed that time of night so I thought that was a bit odd. Anyway, I was glad to at least have an update. I am now being told that the Neurosurgeon's office just got my paperwork today UGGGH so now they are going to call me within the next " couple of weeks and get me a consultation with him " I will then see him and bla bla have the usual pre op history crap I am sure. I had been told previously that the consult would be waived so I guess that info was wrong as well. So I told him then OK if its going to take at least 2 weeks for this consult my hopes of getting this procedure before years end is out the door right? He says oh not probably not. I am like what??? I mean, 2 weeks for a consult, then pre approval, pre op and get on the surgery schedule! We all or anyone that has worked around doctors know that docs do not usually do any elective surgeries right before or after Christmas so that leaves out the last two weeks of the year so .....................now how much time does that leave to do this procedure before New Years? Sorry I can do the dang math. OK so I ask, woudl it speed things up for me to call the office myself to make the appt for my consult instead of twiddling my thumbs and waiting for them to call me. I was told NO NO NO you will just get put on hold, run around, bla bla, and voice mail and get frustrated. If you want updates call me. Uh Huh!!! OH me. I told hubby I am ready to hang it up It will not be done until after New Years. I am just going to reside myself to that fact. And if I have to wait for it to be convenient for them, then they can do it when it is convenient for me. Guest guest
Thanks I have not given up I am just discouraged I guess. It feels like every time I get one step forward, I get whacked back two paces. I am so tired of everyone old else and this darn pain having all the control over my life and not me! I think that is what bothers me the most. I have been working hard at trying to get all my Christmas stuff done so if wonder of wonders this does work its way out, I will have all my shopping for the kids done, etc. Hubby is great but if I am down after surgery there is no way he can work, take care of me, the house, the kids, the dogs and do all that too. So I guess I am just in wait and see mode once more. Kim Update On My Update Ugggh The Plot Thickens So as I stated in my last update I expected calls tomorrow from my rep. Guest guest
Hi Kim, You have the right attitude....think positive, get everything done so you're ready. I know what you mean about the pain. Even with the stimulator, vicodin and fentanyl, I dread standing up every time. I remind myself how much worse it was before the stimulator. I was just hoping I would be able to get off the meds (I did for about 6 - 7 months). I'm still hopeful. Maybe my doc will recommend the pain pump in addition to the stimulator (I think I've read some on here have both, I could be wrong). I hate taking pills and currently have 11 different meds I use daily. I know a lot of people consider people like us addicts, but if that's what it takes to make it through the day, I guess I am!!!
