Hi

Welcome to the group. I am Kim and I can certainly empathize with goin a bit

nuts while waitng on a stim implant. I just had my trial done and taken out. Now

I am waiting for permanent implantation. I have been getting some run around

but hope to hear something tomorrow. It really stinks to have pain relief then

have it snatched away from you!

Thought I'd introduce myself....

Hi y'all! I'm and met Mike today in Pain Aid chat where he

told me about this group and I thought I'd check it out. :0)

I have bilateral lumbar spinal stenosis along with a couple other

things. I had my first implant done October 2004 and am currently on

my 2nd unit as my first one decided to die on me after 2 yrs. I

received my current implant in January 2007 after waiting 4 months for

approval from my ins co to replace the 1st unit. Sure am glad that

wait wasn't any longer or I probably would have lost what's left of my

mind.

It's nice to meet y'all and I look forward to getting to know you.

Take care!

Hi ,

I'm and I've had my stimulator almost 2 years. I can't imagine how it

must have been when your first one quit working. I always joke that when I had

my trial and went back in to have the leads removed, I told them they couldn't

take them out!!!! Fortunately, it was a Monday and I got in on Friday for my

permanent implant. It seems your insurance company took their time approving

your second one, but at least you finally got it and hopefully this one will

last much longer!!! My company rep says even though the companies say they are

good for anywhere from 5 - 10 years, they could last 25. I'm hoping that's the

case!!!! But welcome and hope to chat with you soon.

Take Care,

B. in TEXAS

Hi Kim!

Thank you for the welcome! I've read through some of the messages

here and see you've been doing that insurance company dance. It

really sucks to be held hostage by an insurance company like that.

I know what you mean about having it snatched away. I went 8 months

between my trial and perm implants. Darn hostage situation again. I

wish we still had that insurance company though because when I had the

2nd implant done I had to go through some of the same things I did

with the first one to get the approval for my 2nd implant. Hubby's

employer has since changed insurance again so I'll probably have to do

the dance yet again when we change the location of the generator and

my leads after the 1st of the year. I can't have it done before that

because my hubby is having surgery later this month and I need to be

able to help care for him while he's recovering.

I do hope that you'll get approval very soon and can get your perm

implant before too much longer. Don't give up hope of having it done

by the end of the year, surgeons do work close to the holidays, if my

hubby's is an example. He's having his (shoulder surgery) done Dec

23rd. :)
