Guest guest
I know you all were talking about side effects of meds a week or so ago, but since I was on vacation I am just now getting to this topic. Constipation sucks!!! I use magnesium daily just like I take a multi vitamin. It's natural, it works, n no bad side effects. Plus the bonus is that it helps your body absorb calcium. Start with a low dose so you don't end up at the opposite extreme. I am now up to 250mg 2x a day and I rarely have an issue anymore. N when I say rarely, I really do mean I can no longer remember the last time I had this problem. It has been months n months, since before I upped the dose to 250mg. I am sure you have all heard the basic remedies already like plenty of fluid, especially water. Plenty of fruits n veggies, fiber galore ( the more fiber u take like tablets, pills, n mixes, the more fluid u need). Things I do to get my fluids n fiber are Crystal Light or my very favorite is Sugar Free Koolaid (I am a grape freak!) One of the last things I need is more sugar or calories!!! If I need extra fiber, I prefer Benefiber over the other stir in mixes, you can use it in cooking recipes or in shakes or slushies without it altering the taste (the kids never know). Frozen fruit n juice in a blender make very flavorful slushies n up ur fluids n fruit fiber very easily, also great for cooling off on a hot day. Protein shakes with benefiber r also good as long as u don't go nuts on the powdered protein. I like Carnation Instant Breakfast with a scoop of soy protein. You can add things like bananas or strawberries for extra yummy goodness. I will have to get u all more detailed recipes, try to do it in next couple of days. If u r the type who is willing or has the patience....Juicing is wonderful!!! You can get Alot of fruits n veggies this way. Apples r great for adding sweetness n also great fiber. You can just plain eat the apple also if u like. I also will go n get you the info for a book which has excellent recipes for adding fruits n veggies in your food without ruining the taste or texture (I have texture issues!). Ok that's it for this moment. Deanna - Fairfield, CA. Sent from my iPhone
