Whenever my dad made the trip he would leave even earlier than that so he would be driving the worst part, through Washington DC, at about that hour. That would be 3-4 hours away from here in NJ, about 20 hours away from his place in FL. He would take about 3 days to make the trip. It's been 5 years since he last did it, and the way his health is now, he'll never see NJ again. >We weren't supposed to leave until next week. I may have to make the FL trip myself soon, as my dad's health is going downhill fast, but I'll be taking Amtrak when I go. I do dread the goodies my Italian stepmom would cook, though - everything has sausage, creamy sauce, and all the other stuff she reserves making until company is there. It was easy to take along for a days outing, doesn't necessarily need refrig and is fairly crush resistent. We would supplement with trail mix/nuts/dried fruit and we always had to throw in a candy bar, even though it often melted! > > Dh and I will be going on vacation this weekend for a whole week! My grandparents rented a cabin next to a lake and we had to go down a ladder to get to it. I usually make the trip up as I go. (In fact, I still need to pack). Mostly I want to hike around the trails and see nature. I will hopefully do some caving as well. Have a gerat time....you deserve a break today...(did anyone else think of the commerical for Mcs after reading that.)...sorry..that is the first thing that came to mind...probably since I just started the nutrisystem diet and no more fast food...lol..must be working though..in three weeks I have lost 19 pounds!!
