Guest guest
My mother and son wrote to their representatives about this months ago. They both both recently received letters back. (They have different representatives.) Both said the FCC was trying to tag a charge onto internet use. Both representaives are going to vote against it. It is not a hoax as I had been led to believe. I will be contacting my representative. Deanna
Guest guest
Just spoke with my son. Rep. Combest of Texas says the bill he is supporting is Internet Access Charge Prohibition Act HR1291. This bill will essentially prohibit the imposition of access charges on internet service providers. He also said each state would make their own decision about the charge. Guest guest
I have received this type of message from numerous sources; however, no one ever mentions the Bill number associated with this. Thus, I am directing you to the following FCC url which contradicts this: http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_r/Factsheets/nominute.html If anyone knows of a Bill number, then I wouldn't mind pursuing this. ---Jeff Swan <theswans@...> wrote: > > > PLEASE READ AND FORWARD > ---- AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EASY WAY TO CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSMAN > > > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > Subject: Would you like to pay long distance charges for e-mail? > > Date: Thu, 20 May 1999 05:10:44 EDT > > From: Loulou24PH@... > > Irishsea1@... > > > > In a message dated 5/17/99 7:15:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time, Elecandy > > writes: > > > > CNN reported that in the next two weeks, Congress is going to vote on > > allowing telephone companies to charge for Internet access. > > > > That means, every time we send a long distance e-mail we will > > receive a long distance charge.
