Hello Lata and Deepak

I anxiously await your report on Ayurvedic Treatments in ApriI.

I recently was wondering if oil treatment would cure my Karatacoconus and or chronic conjuctivitis? The medical people here in the USA are not able to.

We are all in the same boat and always good to learn from each other.Being Indians, we look to our age old remedies for treatment. Whilst our hearts tell us that a surgical intervention is inevitible in the case of our child, we have been directed to a reputed Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala, India. The course is for 21 days and the treatment will be only to put some medicated oils in her eyes and massage them - no operations/surgical intervention. The doctors there say that they have treated ptosis cases and there will be improvement. We fatalastic Indians beleive

that this can cause Anushka no harm, so why not try this first before we go to surgery which anyway cannot be done for another one and half years? This is for your information only and after we visit the place (end April) we will send you the feedback. With best wishes to you allLata & Deepak

Dear ,

Recently my friend had been to this hospital and he had fantastic things to say about it. Supposedly getting famous with a lot of Indians from all over the world visiting the place.

The hospital is mainly to treat all kinds of eye disorders and my friend says that I must visit to experience and see the 'miracles' being performed there. Visit their Web Site: www.sreedhareeyam.com to get some information.

I dont believe everything anyone says but being a father with an affected child, I will try anything, repeat anything, if that helps, or does not harm, my baby. Being an Indian, it is easier for me to visit the place though I live abroad. The place is in Kerala, India - a beautiful touristic place if you like the back waters - unfortunately have never been there myself. We plan to be there for 3 weeks from end April and I will inquire about treatment for your condition, or you can directly email to them. Be patient if they respond slowly.

Kind regards

Dear son,

I hope you are still reading the mails on this site. I apologize for not responding earlier but due to various pressures of travel and work, completely forgot. Sincerly apologize.

We visited this hospital and frankly do not think they have a solution for BPES. The treatment there for our child (and most others) was simply to massage her eyes with some oil (which will no doubt help strengthen her eyelid muscles, so not a bad solution in the long run) and give her some medicines which she promptly vomitted (10 month old baby). They never told us that they could not cure her or could, however, after 10 days stay there, we felt there is not much hope for our child with this treatment.

On the other hand, we met hundreds (yes hundreds) of patients with various eye problems - mostly short sight cases, some complicated cases and some hopeless cases (blindness) where other cures have failed. People have faith in this hospital and some have told me that there has been an improvement in their condition, but really difficult for me to guage. Hope is eternal without which we cannot exist.

Each treatment is usually for 21 days and one trip is not enough. Probably one needs to go there every year for a few years, but this depends upon the condition of each person. The hospital is in a very small town and there is nothing much to do: whilst under treatment, one cannot read much or watch tv so killing time is difficult. You can get a fantastic body massage for a negligble cost provided you tell them that you have back trouble (around US$ 2.5 for a 45 minutes massage). Only vegeterian food is available and you need a cast iron stomach to last 21 days without a problem. A nice air-conditioned cottage is available if booked months in advance and during off-season. Kerala is famous for it's beautiful natural sites and plenty of rain.

This is a very inexpensive place and should cost not more than US$ 50 per day, including the airconditioned room, food, treatment and off-course the body massage. The day starts early and ends late, so be prepared to be interrupted at any time for one treatment or the other.

I discussed your case and, as usual, they will never say whether there is treatment or cure available or not. You need to try and HOPE.

I trust to have answered your questions but do not hesitate to write back if more details are needed.

Good luck and kind regards
