Guest guest
I received this letter from my chaplain this past drill weekend: From the ANG Chaplain Service Anthrax Waiver There have been numerous questions regarding religious waivers for the Anthrax shot. NGB/HC has looked into whether a waiver is permissible. The following data is in response to our question to the Armed Forces Chaplains Board. The DOD Directive 1300.17, para C.2.c states, " The Military Departments should consider religious beliefs as a factor for waiver of immunizations, subject to medical risk to the unit and the military requirements, such as alert and deployment potential. NGB/HC is advising you that although the cheif's office has not established a policy, HQ USAF/HCX has advised the following can be briefed to anyone seeking a waiver from taking the anthrax shot: * They can apply for a waiver from the anthrax based on religious beliefs * Individuals may have to face the consequences of becoming non-worldwide deployable if the waiver is granted and suffer the ramifications that status brings * Counsel the individual about his/her faith as it relates to their military commitment * Inform them if this is an isolated waiver request, and they have taken " every other " shot the AF has required to take, they may subject themselves to open scrutiny and possible disciplinary action * Individuals who have waivers for other immunizations still may have to deal with becoming non-worldwide deployable e.g. Christian Scientist, etc. * Finally, help the individual sort through his/her faith An article has been puiblished in the AF Times reporting on this and similar issues as they relate to the anthrax shot. Guest guest
This is awesome, but.... in regards to " disciplinary action " for attempting to seek a waiver due to taking " every other " shot, maybe if soldiers new about the waiver in the first place they would have requested one from day one. Just food for thought. << * Inform them if this is an isolated waiver request, and they have taken " every other " shot the AF has required to take, they may subject themselves to open scrutiny and possible disciplinary action >>
Guest guest
Well, write the chaplains off. Now is not a good time to explain that comment, but I will explain it in the near future. They are playing the game too.
Guest guest
Just a reminder, don't make blanket statements in haste. Dave RE: Anthrax Waiver From: & Gretta <grettajv@...> Well, write the chaplains off. Now is not a good time to explain that comment, but I will explain it in the near future. They are playing the game too.
