Guest guest
Our son was born with blepharophimosis. All your messages have been interesting to read. We took him to an eye doctor and plastic surgeon when he was 3 weeks old. He had his first surgery when he was 9 months to raise his eyelids. A year later they removed his extra folds around the bridge of his nose. At 4 years we needed to repeat the first surgery because his body rejected the donor tissue used the first time. He has also had two surgeries to correct his lazy eye. I am happy to say that we have a healthy happy 15 year old son today. He is now wearing contacts. Not at all ashamed of his beautiful eyes, which are bluer now with the contacts. He needs to lubricate the eyes each night so that the contacts don't irritate the cornea. Yes, his eyes still look small but it hasn't held him back from doing all he wants to do. He has been normal or above normal in every other aspect of his life and has many friends. My message to all of you with young children is to keep going to your doctors and continue to have the surgeries they suggest. It is all worth and your child will someday thank you for all that you did. Vicki and
