Guest guest
Hi, A few months ago I read a couple posts from some of you about helping your nonverbal kids communicate. I remember wondering what exactly constituted " nonverbal " b/c our toddler's language skills didn't seem to be developing like his peers, but I thought we'd just wait it out. This past week he had a developmental eval and turns out his receptive language is at 30 mos. but his expressive language is significantly behind (15 mos.). (He's 25 mos old.) He most likely will be diagnosed with apraxia. I know that BPES isn't associated with developmental disorders and the biological cause of apraxia is debated, but I can't help wondering if a secondary effect of our son's BPES contributed to at least a delay in his motor and verbal skills, since his ptosis was very severe and caused him mild sensory deprivation until his 1st surgery @ 3mos. In spite of all, he is such a happy, bright kid... Can anyone out there identify? Debbie Barfoot
