This is great Elaine, May your eyes be good as new in a short while. My

Mother had cataract sugery in 2000 and has thoroughly enjoyed not having to

wear her glasses all the time.

Be blessed,

Becky

Dear Elaine...I'm so grateful you are 'cataract free " and that you had a

wonderful doctor...to say nothing of your fantastic hubby. I rejoice

with you!

Hugs of Hope...

Elaine, I hope your pain has subsided by today. Great news that both

eyes are finished now!

Dear Group,

I wanted to update you all on my children's sling surgeries and

tell you I posted some pictures if you would like to see their

results. (under " Nils & Ebba " )

The surgeries were about a month ago and went very well.

Compared to the sling surgery Nils had at 4 months, this different

technique was MUCH better. They both had less swelling, healed

much faster, and now have good eye shape and lift. Ebba was

7 months old at the time of the surgery, and now after one month

you can hardly see any scars at all.

Nils' scars are a bit more red, but all the swelling is gone unlike

his first surgery when it took months to look normal. We redid

Nils' slings now because the original sling in Nils' left eye slipped

and stopped working.

The technique uses silicone string in a sheath with only one cut right

above the eyebrow and then 2 small cuts under the eyelid. Our

doctor is Dr. on at the University of Minnesota

(Minneapolis).

A couple of the pictures in Ebba's folder include me. I had sling

surgery when I was 6 yrs old using facia lata from my leg. I also

had the inner eye reconstruction surgery at 8 yrs old. I am now 41.

My older sister, father, grandfather, great grandmother and

great great grandfather also have/had BPES.

Hi Friends...I mad my hernia repair and panniculectomy last Wednesday...all

went well. They removed 14+ pounds of redundant skin, and tissue. The doctors

are very happy with the incisions...though my abdomen looks like it is covered

in train tracks.

I am home now, and my best friend will be here another day or so. The kids have

been wonderful, as usual, and I know I am blessed.

The pain has been off & on...it woke me up a little bit ago, but at times isn't

as bad...more of a discomfort and sensation of pressure, and 'fullness " . My

experience with the hospital was mixed...though all were kind, there were some

big communication gaffs regarding when I could get up and start walking (was

supposed to at 8am Thursday, but did not start til 7:30pm Thursday) and NO night

time meds were ordered. I was pretty frustrated as I had done everything I was

asked to do, but they dropped the ball. But, I believe it was truly just a goof

up and when I assertively though tearfully expressed myself, they really worked

on getting things straightened out.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Love...

Hello all.

1 week into the process and the pain is a little less. I was late for my meds

once and have had the opportunity to see the pain extreme. I will not do this

again.   I don't have much to write, since I will not actually talk to the

surgeon for another week, when he will remove the cast & stiches, xray and

decide whether I'm going back into another cast or he will put me into a boot.

I am going to start to do whatever excersise I can do for the rest of my body

probably starting Saturday. I can already feel & see weakness from just being

seditary so long.

Does anyone have any sit & be fit excersises they can contribute?

Hi Defman,

I'm still in the post-recovery phase myself and feeling the need to fight the

weakness also, so I can relate.

Did they give you an Incentive Spirometer after your surgery?  After general

anesthesia, it's an important device to get all parts of the lungs working

again.  The exercises can be done every hour for a few weeks after surgery.

It's good exercise for the core too, in addition to the lungs. (You can youtube

it, to see how the exercises are done.  They can be done without a device

too.  Or, the local pharmacy may be able to deliver one to you.)

For other exercises, I would recommend going to Youtube and putting in keywords

such as " Chair Tai Chi " or " Chair Workout " .  The Tai Chi exercises are really

gentle, but reduce stress and improve breathing and they can be done in a chair.

Just changing position every 30 minutes, getting up and down frequently or

in-and-out of bed (even if you don't walk around), showering/dressing, etc., can

also help.  Every movement makes a difference.

Sorry but you actually made me chuckle about never being late again on the

meds. It's a good sign that you are maintaining a sense of humor. Life is

just too short to be so serious. Additionally, glad you are getting better.

My prayers remain with you.
