Guest guest
Kim - I am so glad things went well! I noticed in Micah's pictures the head tilt was gone immediately too. I can't wait to see pictures of your little guy! What kind of material did they use for the slings? I have to tell you - Micah has now been home two months and is speaking full sentences in English (amazing!) and so he can talk to me about his surgery. He will point to a photo of him before his surgery and tell me he had ptosis. (Very smart little three year old. LOL!) And he told me that having his surgery made him very happy. I'm sure your little guy is too! Love, April --- kim_smith_daniel <kimsdaniel@...> wrote: > Well we survived Hurricane Dennis and the first > sling surgery! Guest guest
Hi there, So happy to hear the surgery went so well.....wee champ:) Could you post some before and after pix of Rowan? Would love to see:) We have a beautiful 21/2 year old son Ethan with bleph.....1st in the family with this? So a wee surprise he was:) We have been told he won't be having any ops until about age 4 before he starts school hopefully, he has never had a chin up posture to see, and runs around like any other 2 year old! He of course lifts from his forehead-eyebrows though:) There are pics of him under ethan at the site, he is the Ethan wearing the pumpkin suit ( there are 2 ethans ) Looking forward to seeing some pix:) Leanne and family NZ -- blepharophimosis Sling surgery outcome Well we survived Hurricane Dennis and the first sling surgery! We were able to see Rowan 2 hours after surgery in the recovery room and he looked a little rough but not nearly as bruised as I had expected. He slept the first day and through the night with no problems. To our great surprise the day after surgery the redness was gone (from the triangular incisions over the eyebrows), the bruising was gone and all that remained was swelling from the eyelid incisions. He is doing remarkably well and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. The 2nd day he was completely himself, playful, happy as if nothing had ever happened. And, it is incredible that one day post-surgery he is no longer using the chin- up position but can see straight on. And I wasn't expecting him to have a lid crease - that has probably changed his appearance more than anything. The doctor explained that the lid crease naturally creates as a result of the incision and that it will remain once the swelling has gone. AMAZING! Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Unless we need a repeat sling surgery his next surgery will be the canthoplasty surgery around age 4 or 5. Kim Tallahassee, FL
Guest guest
Hi April: Just getting caught up on my e-mails (and everything else) following vacation. Our surgeon prefers fascia and since our guy is still little donated fascia was used. We are now nearly 4 weeks post-surgery and his eyes do not appear as open as they were the first week following surgery. He also appears to be using the chin up position a bit but not nearly as much as prior to the surgery. We went back to ville 2 weeks ago for a repair of the eyelid incision after he fell and I shared this with our surgeon. He assured me that we would need to wait until ALL of the swelling was gone (he had new swelling due to the fall) until we make a final determination. We go back for a follow up visit in 6 weeks so we'll see what he thinks then. Kim Tallahassee, FL -------------- Original message -------------- Kim - I am so glad things went well! Guest guest
Hi Kim, Micah had his surgery in Feb and pictures I received of him taken in April still showed a little swelling. By the time he came home, Mid-May, it seemed to be all gone. I'm so sorry your little guy fell!!! Poor baby! I know childhood owies are normal but they are no fun! Praying once the swelling is gone Rowan won't have to use his head tilt anymore. Please let us know how he is doing.
