Sling surgery outcome

Well we survived Hurricane Dennis and the first sling surgery! We

were able to see Rowan 2 hours after surgery in the recovery room and

he looked a little rough but not nearly as bruised as I had

expected. He slept the first day and through the night with no

problems. To our great surprise the day after surgery the redness

was gone (from the triangular incisions over the eyebrows), the

bruising was gone and all that remained was swelling from the eyelid

incisions. He is doing remarkably well and we couldn't be more

pleased with the results. The 2nd day he was completely himself,

playful, happy as if nothing had ever happened. And, it is

incredible that one day post-surgery he is no longer using the chin-

up position but can see straight on. And I wasn't expecting him to

have a lid crease - that has probably changed his appearance more

than anything. The doctor explained that the lid crease naturally

creates as a result of the incision and that it will remain once the

swelling has gone. AMAZING!

Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Unless we need a

repeat sling surgery his next surgery will be the canthoplasty

surgery around age 4 or 5.
