Guest guest
The Headlines Read: " Gulf War veterans suffered brain damage after chemical exposure, study says " " Gulf War Illnesses `Real' " " Brain scans indicate damage in veterans with Gulf War illness " " Gulf War, Brain Damage Linked " " Brain Damage in Gulf War Vets " " The war over gulf war syndrome " It is this observer's take, that once again, we are on the receiving end of even more of government funded and well orchestrated " GWS revelation du jour " Before anybody jumps down my throat. No help needed there, as I can manage to get my own feet in there from time to time. I only wish to present some thoughts for us all to consider. It is not my desire to infer that dangerous chemicals are to be ignored nor that they do not have gross negative impact on living things. Nor is it my position that troops, who were deployed during the Gulf War, could not be worse off as a result of being exposed to chemicals, during their deployment. But it is my intent, to remind us all that nowhere, in all of this recent flurry of " news " , does it account for those who never deployed, but yet they are ill with GWS. The recent stories talk of using state-of-the-art PET-SPECT MR radiological equipment to determine some GW Vets are suffering brain damage. The recognition of some GW Era Vets (non-deployed & deployed) having brain damage, some extremely severe, has been observed by multiple GWS researchers for 3, 4 or more years, even without the PET-SPECT technology. There are also many GW Era Vets and family members who know of the brain damage close-up and personal. If there is a news story in this latest barrage, it is that newer diagnostic technology is useful in recognizing the extent of some of the long term effects of GWS. I am hopeful, for one of these days soon, when we will see; The Headlines Read: " Common Denominator Found In Deployed & Non-Deployed GWS ILL " Maybe then, proper Diagnostics and Treatments will begin, for those still surviving. Maybe then, government will stop playing with human life. Maybe. Sincerely, Rick Shuster Viet Nam Era Vet Father of 3 GW Era Vets Hope.......rgs
