Guest guest
Wow! I just checked the responses to my last night's email and I am overwhelmed at the response. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...and my thoughts are with those of you who are going through infertility issues. I would not wish that on anyone, it is a very difficult time that those who have not gone through it just do not truly understand. On a lighter note, I am 41 years old and am no longer trying and am at peace with the fact that I have my 16 year old son and am truly grateful for him, as many people cannot even have one. The doctor yesterday asked if my husband and I were still trying, and I replied that not really but I have never been on birth control and God will probably feel a need to punish me and I will get pregnant at 45 or something. The doctor just laughed. Anyway I was trying to dig for the paper work and found that I originally went to the genetic counsellor on Dec. 7, 2004 and it took about 3 months for the Canadian or I guess Ontario Government Health insurance to approve the costs of sending my blood to Belgium and the testing. So I beleive it was around the end of March when my blood was taken and I got the results yesterday, Sept. 19, 2005, so it took awhile. Also, it is true that males can be Type I or Type II but they are not affected by the infertility issues but can pass on which ever Type they are to their children. When they took my blood they said there was only a 70% chance that they would be able to get results...had they not been able to get results from me, then they would have tested my son. Hope this is of some help to people. Take care, for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
