Guest guest
From: KERNLHANDY@... THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF AMERICANS BATTLING UNNECESSARY SERVICEMEMBER ENDANGERMENT (NO ABUSE) PRESS RELEASE, 2-21-00 The demonstration for servicemember family and friends planned for this evening at 5pm just west of the Ellipse in Washington, D. C. is postponed because the short-notice for the event doesn't allow fulfillment of competing media and research opportunities. Recent news coverage of the issue has generated new information from new sources, and along with recently available documents, these developments are demanding immediate attention to help further justify suspending the program. NO ABUSE will focus on documenting cases of severe reactions to demonstrate the consequences of implementing this ill-advised mandatory policy. Additionally, NO ABUSE hopes the Government Reform Committee members will realize that its National Security Subcommittee report on the vaccine is a bi-partisan issue. The previous Senate Staff report 103-97 which indicated the vaccine should still be considered investigational was produced under a Democratically-controlled Congress. Also, the first controversial use of the vaccine occurred during the Gulf War under a Republican administration. Since the vaccine's effects do not discriminate between Democrats or Republicans in uniform, neither should party affiliation enter into the upcoming review of the report.
