Hi ,

Where are you from? We are in New-Zealand, and have a beautiful 2 year old son with bleph:) he is the first in the family to have this? We recently signed up for medical insurance, but they noted that any pre excisting conditions would not be covered, that of course been Ethans bleph. Because he was born with bleph they will not cover any part of it, so we are on the public system, and he see's the exact same Dr he would see if we were paying $120.00 for a 15 minute visit!!! but costs us nothing. Although, when the Dr says to us that Ethans surgery is *cosmetic* then we wonder will it still be covered? We will discuss that with him at his 3 year old check up!

Hope everything works out for you and your son:) How old is your son? Have either of you had any surgeries before or not? Do you have any pix you could share with us, would love to see if you do....Our son Ethan is the one wearing the pumpkin suit:) Talk soon

I am not an expert in insurance or any of this issues but

first I would look at the reason they are denying your claim, do they

think it is cosmetic? Because it isn't, your child is around the same

age as Lily and if his vision is inhibited the surgery is necessary for

his development.

Have you spoken to your employer?

Other options would be public assistance, changing insurance companies,

changing jobs. Can another family member put your son on their

insurance?

I am so sorry you have to deal with this on top of having a little baby

who needs surgery.

We have decided not to get surgury on our sons eyes. His eye doc

said it would only be cosmetic and would not truely help him to see

better. is very handsome the way he is now and we are

afraid that the surgery would scar and ruin his eyes. I don't mean

to sound pro or con surgery just wanted you to know my story. The

doc said that with seing a smaller space keeps him from

needing glasses for far or near sighted I can't think which one.

If we had surgery He would need glasses. This wouldn't be a problem

for most, but along with Bleph has sinificant developmental

delays that makes sunglasses even impossible to keep on him.

Good luck with your decision.
