Guest guest Posted March 22, 2000 Report Share Posted March 22, 2000 March 21, 2000 AIR FORCE ACCEPTS RESIGNATION REQUEST RELEASE NO: 03-22-00 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. – The Air Force has accepted a resignation request submitted by a C-5 pilot assigned here who disobeyed an order from a superior officer to receive the DoD-mandated anthrax vaccine. The request came in lieu of further discharge proceedings. Major Sonnie Bates will receive an under honorable conditions (general) discharge. Major Bates has until March 30 to complete required separation actions. Major Bates exercised his option to submit his resignation request in response to administrative discharge action being initiated by Colonel W. Neal Mills, 436th Airlift Wing vice commander. Guest guest Posted March 22, 2000 Report Share Posted March 22, 2000 Maj. Bates should lobby his Congressman to upgrade his discharge to Honorable when he gets out. I believe he has to wait 6 months but if we all send letters to his representative it can happen sooner.
