This is a measure of the impact of the epidemic in a country, regardless of the size of its population. Each conveys an important message on the different HIV epidemics around the world. But considered in isolation, each map also misses important aspects. Together, the three maps present an illuminating picture of the magnitude, impact and recent trends of HIV spread in regions, countries and societies.
