Guest guest
Dear Maitreya! I am laughing very hard at your last paragraph--it is too true!! But there IS one little way I disagree with you....be careful about wanting to be born American...there is MUCH injustice going on here. If you are African American or Latino. If you are poor. Or homeless. There are many many homeless. Over 45 million Americans do not have healthcare, many children. Over 2 million Americans are in jail. Mostly people of color. Labor rights are being crushed....things for the poorest here can *almost* rival some of the modestly poor in India.....but not the poorest of the poor, I know. Still--don't make the mistake of thinking this place is a paradise! And to think on it--yes, I do think that BOTH the US government and the Indian government can and will do better. As long as our voices are united to try to guide them in more humane directions. Sometimes that takes shaming them. Yelling!! Standing up for rights....in the way that makes the best sense. This can indeed be risky--and not all the problems will be solved. But I think good hearts like yours are part of how things get changed! Slowly. Surely. Because each sentient life is precious and I guess we should be mindful of the choices we make to try to assure the most vulnerable have access to care. Sometimes, I think that can mean making a loud noise! It can help to wake some people up and clear the veil of dust from their eyes. I haven't got the guts to take a boddhisatva vow cause I wanna go to another planet when I die! Best to you from a devout agnostic....
