How far are you to the nearest army post. The finance section and/or customer

service center can help..... Get last 6 months of the LES's and the

Out-processing Pay audit sheet. The sheet has all the last months

transactions during the out processing phase. That sheet will save you

headaches..... Mike

Christi,

I hope you have your LES's. Definitely, write them asap and ask what

this is for. If nothing else it will buy you time. This way they can't

say you're ignoring a debt. I'd suggest keeping a copy of the letter

you send to them and also send it registered mail. This way they can't

say they didn't receive it. Good Luck!

Hello. If this is an overpayment because of giving

more money on an LES then your bank that it was sent

to may have all and any record of any deposits that

would account for any so-called overpayment that

finance could compute. Finance always screws things up

in the army anyway!

If the form does not show the basis for the overpayment you need to request

in writing what the overpayment was and how this error occurred. Final pay

is normally exact. This will also mean that your W2 is incorrect and could

result in TAX problems with the IRS. From my experience, this is not unusual

.... play with the W2 then wait for the IRS to drive in the final nails.

I received the same kind of letter. Mine was for 450.00 for overpayment.

Overpayment for what? They give an e-mail address. (They should on your

letter). I sent an email and told them I wanted a statement to show

" exactly " where I was overpaid 450.00. I'm still waiting for a response.

This was three weeks ago.

It is me and Jeff. Things have been quite since returning to home and a

" normal " life. Until today. Jeff got a letter in the mail from DFAS

stating that he owed them 250.00 for military pay overpayment. YOU HAVE

GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!Jeff paid everything back. In fact when he

only got $16.00 for the whole month of September that was our final

payment. His pay after that was normal. He was discharged on 7

December. He did not receive any pay on 15 Dec. I have no clue what

this is. I don't know what to do. I am thinking of responding to them

in a letter and demanding a statement for what this is. Then I will

probably turn it over to our congressman who helped us. Any input guys? >>
