Guest guest
Yesterday, the entire world watched with horror as a few desperate and despicable individuals chose to attack the United States and the ideals it represents by using our own citizens as weapons or targets. I can only hope that the heinous enormity of their cowardly acts will prompt the rest of the world to once and for all strive to eradicate the environment in which such hatred can thrive. I was sickened to watch Palestinian men, women and children dance in the streets in joy at the news of the destruction. How can any person celebrate the deaths of so many innocent victims? Do all Palestinians or all Muslims feel this way? Certainly not, but they were publicized while the " normal " citizens were not, because it makes for better TV ratings. We must be aware that hatred is the absence of love, just like darkness is the absence of light. In order to abolish hatred, we must spread love. The US retaliation must not target innocent civilians, lest we become what we so despise. I urge President Bush and the governments of the world to carefully join forces and establish a policy in which any acts of terrorism or genocide are dealt with swiftly and severely. As has been quoted many times on this list, " The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. " It's time to do something. Give blood, send money, write letters, make phone calls, volunteer, but most of all, spread love. God bless the families of the victims. God give us the strength and resolve and the wisdom to do what is right. Blackburn
