Guest guest
Kirt and others, Go back to the PAC Special Report, (which is online @ http://www.gwvi.ncr.gov/toc1.html) and look at it closely. Print it out (it's not that long) and USE IT! Recent DOD reports on GWS claim the Special Report supports what they have done, but it clearly does not. The PAC Special Report (the last of four PAC Reports) slams DOD on many different things. One slam is the fact that OSAGWI covered up a very good report by MITRE on Gulf exposures. They make some of the exact same types of comments that 's letter makes about OSAGWI. I do not think Dr. Vinh Cam's comments and 's letter have been refuted: this Special Report makes clear that OSAGWI is simply a cover-up agency for the Gulf War ill. We need to keep hitting the DOD on this. Cam and are not left hanging out to dry; instead there is a lot of documentary support for what they have said. The Special Report even talks about why there is a need for a non-DOD entity to oversee the DOD GW research: PSOB was then supposed to be that entity. So much for " Independent Oversight! " By the way, STRESS as the " cause " of GWS is fast sinking into a black hole. I just returned from the PGWCB conference on GWS and presenter after presenter showed that PTSD and stress are NOT causing the very real medical illnesses vets are displaying. There remained, of course, numerous reports from the pseudoscientists, but the meaty, real science is showing that there is something real, and the experts agree with the symptoms, agree with the pathology being autonomic nervous system, memory, attention, speed of mental processing, abnormal hypothalamic/pituitary axis function, etc. Dan Clauw even gave a terrific seminar on how to treat GWS based on the fibromyalgia model. (I use everything he mentioned and a few other interventions and they are helpful, though not curative.)
