Guest guest
Many parents have asked if Culturelle has casein. We sent a Culturelle sample to two testing labs that specialize in testing for casein. The results are that Culturelle does have casein. It contains 145 parts per million of casein. I can send to anyone interested a copy of the test reports. It is a good product but it contains too much casein. Thank you. Do they have two variations? Or maybe they didn't understand the CF part? Or maybe it's caesin free but not free of the other part of dairy? My son reacts to milk in any form. Guest guest
I will send you the test result to your private email. It confirms that the sample of Culturelle we submitted to an independent lab, according to their test, - does have casein. Your problem is how do you prove that your particular product has casein? Any company claiming to you to have a casein free Probiotic probiotic (not to be confused with Dairy Free) must be able to produce an independent lab test to confirm. If they say that they do not have an independent report but they are SURE it is casein free ask if they will put that in writing since you are relying on it. --- they likely won't and you have your answer. We now test every batch of our Probiotic products to insure it is casein free... it is the only way to be sure. Thank you. Guest guest
Here is some more information on Culturelle: Culturelle is the US trade name for Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (ATCC 53103), a patented strain of lactobacillus rhamnosus; the company Valio has worldwide exclusive rights to sub-license to other manufacturers. It has the most secure and extensive scientific background of all the probiotics. (http://www.valio.fi/lgg/faq.html) Culturelle can relieve some cases of milk allergy by reducing intestinal permeability. ( Majamaa H. and Isolauri E. " Probiotics: a novel approach in the management of food allergy " J Allergy Clin Immunol (99):179-85, 1997) I tried to find if the Lactobacillus rhamnosus in Probio Gold is this but couldn't find anything. I imagine if it were, the web site would say so. I also looked into the particular strains listed in ProBio Gold but couldn't find anything. Only found information on species as a whole. I rotate probiotic products to keep in different " types. " My youngest seems to have gotten a bit worse since we stopped Culturelle so I am going to start him again giving it once a day, and rotate one of the other products for a second dose each day. .
