AIDS discrimination: HC notice to AIIMS

The New Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued suo motu notices to the

Centre and the Delhi Government seeking their replies on refusal of

several city hospitals to treat patients having the HIV infection.

A division Bench of the court, comprising acting Chief justice D.

Gupta and Justice A.K Sikri took cognisance of reports about city

hospitals turning away Raj Bahadur, who was diagnosed HIV positive .

Apart from the Centre and the Delhi Government, the Bench also issued

notices to several hospitals. AIIMS, St s, Sanjay Gandhi

Memorial, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash and Maharaja Agrasen where the

patient reportedly visited for treatment and being admitted but

refused. HTC, New Delhi
