Hello Dear Tom, , and All,

Great to hear from you, Tom and , and to know that Mwende will be at the conference in Boston too!! Yeah!

Tom, as per 's generous offer, I have a few questions: you have said Achieng needs: 1) a home 2) school. Does she need both right now (ie together)? Could she stay with her mother and go to school, or do you think she needs another environment completely? And what abt her mother? Is there any kind of program for her, or way we can help, as that might allow them to stay together (if you think that is a good thing)?

And what are the money needs (immediate and longer term)? How much is schooling, for instance? If you can estimate some of the needs for us, that will be helpful.

Please contact at presidentowino@... directly, giving him the info and pix abt Achieng. I know you have some other young people in need too, as do Hezekiah, Tom Obiero, Mwende Mwinzi, and Onyango of SIDAREC. The conference participants may not be able to help every child in need, but awareness and outreach is important, and this will translate into benefits both immediate and longer term, and individual as well as collective. and his org have already done so much for youth, so this is an excellent opportunity.

, we can't thank you enough for all of your invaluable work, your generosity of spirit, and your unquenchable caring! Hope you and Tom will connect directly (tomochuka@...), and I will do whatever I can to be helpful! With greatest blessings and love, Janet

From :Can you send me Achieng's photo and a brief description of her immediate and longterm needs, plus full contact addresses including the guardian, school that she intends to join.

We have international conference on AIDS orphans coming up on Aug 26 in Boston and I would like to present her case and many others in the same situation to natives, friends and colleagues who will be attending the conference.
