Guest guest
Current Kenyan crisis causing critical reproductive health lapses. Pathfinder is ready to support! Dear Pathfinder Supporter, As you may know, there are more than 250,000 displaced people in Kenya as a result of the recent violence. The plight of the internally displaced people is complex. However, what is very clear for most of them, is that they cannot go back to the places from which they fled. The need for help is urgent. At the moment, there are thousands without basic living and health care necessities. In many camps, people are sleeping in the open—often in cold areas—and children are at especially high-risk for respiratory infections. People living with HIV/AIDS are unable to access their usual antiretroviral medications. Pregnant women have been cut off from prenatal care services. And thousands are in need of trauma counseling. Time is of the essence. Pathfinder wants to ensure that the current crisis does not diminish the reproductive health care services to which Kenyans have access, nor increase the already dangerously high HIV rate among women. Pathfinder Kenya has already assisted the Ministry of Health by providing additional health staff and support services, but we need to do more. Your assistance is urgently needed! Thank you for your support. Casey, Pathfinder Country Representative for Kenya * Casey has been working in Kenya for three years, where she leads the Pathfinder Kenya team to support reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care, and support services in three provinces.
