Guest guest
Dear friends, I did not have the chance to meet late Ashok Pillai, personally. But what I have come to know of him fills me with a lot of respect and honour for the departed comrade. Making one's status public is easier said than done, in any traditional society. Ashok Pillai did it when HIV sent spine-chilling vibrations to all the surroundings and sent shock waves for running away even to your nearest and dearest ones. In such an atmosphere, not only did he himself stood upright, but, he gave lead to numerous others sunk into gloomy psyche. I join all the mourners including those of us who are unable to make it physically to his last rites. Our best honour to him is fighting social stigma more vigorously and ensuring care and support to the sick while helping in further spread of the pandemic.
