Guest guest Posted January 4, 2012 Report Share Posted January 4, 2012 Dear Partners, Capacity Africa Institute is pleased to announce the following training workshops to be held in the month of January in Nairobi:- 1) SPSS FROM TUESDAY 24TH TO FRIDAY 27TH JANUARY 2012 SPSS is a statistical package for beginning, intermediate, and advanced data analysis .Originally it is an acronym of Statistical Package for the Social Science but now it stands for Statistical Product and Service Solutions One of the most popular statistical packages which can perform highly complex data manipulation and analysis with simple instructions Our classes provide hands-on instruction .Participants are required to have basic computer skills and to bring their own laptops. The workshop provides an introduction to statistics, data editing, management, and analysis using SPSS. The statistical selection guide provides help in choosing statistical tests based on the goal of the data analysis and the characteristics of the dependent and independent variables. The course shall provide: • 20-24 hours of classroom sessions and tutorials • Reading and reference material • Rigorous hands-on practice on key skills • Certificate for participation • Post workshop follow up support if required. Free SPSS software for training purposes. 2) PROJECT MANAGEMENT & MONITORING AND EVALUATION WORKSHOP FROM TUE 31ST JAN- FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2012 Program Managers attending the training will get hands on skills in the following areas; • Understanding Project Management? • Overview of Project Initiation, Planning, Implementation • Scheduling and plannings to ensure targets are accomplished timely. • Work Plan and Budget Development • What is Monitoring and Evaluation? • Presentation of a model M & E Plan. • Discussion and presentation of the primary data collection tools • Monitoring tools, methods and procedures. • Evaluation types (process evaluation, impact evaluation, • Report Writing in Monitoring and Evaluation Organizational Capacity Statement Capacity Africa is an organization that was founded in 1996 by a group of development professionals to promote quality capacity building among development professionals and communities in Africa. The organization has initiated training programmes in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and Southern Sudan training over 3000 development workers in the last ten years. We have collaborated very closely with Action Aid Kenya, Unicef Kenya Country Office, Undp Kenya, Unifem East Africa, Population Services International, World Health Organization, Ministry of Health, Federation of Women Lawyers-FIDA, Amref, Kisumu and Eldoret City Councils, Danish Deming Group, Pact World, National Council for Population and Development, ,Shell Kenya and Shell International, Path, Techno serve, One Love One World Ends Aids, National Aids Control Council, Center for British Teachers, JRS Sudan, Christian Mission Aid, Sudanese Red Cross, Mercy Corps International, ADRA South Sudan Sector Programme among others. Training Cost SPSS WORKSHOP KSHS 32,000 ( USD 375) PER PERSON PROJECT MANAGEMENT MONITORING AND EVALUATION (FEES: KSHS. 32,000/- (USD 375) PER PERSON The fee caters for lunch and two teas, tuition, training materials and a certificate. Participants are requested to organize their own accommodation and transport in Nairobi. Payment should be made in Cheque or bank transfer to Capacity Africa Institute Account ONLY. Training Methodology Combination of lectures, didactic exercise, role plays, group working and question and answer approaches.
