Human Rights Leadership Training Institute is currently accepting applications

for the 2012 edition of the following online distance learning courses:

1. Advance Certificate Course on

Gender and HIV/AIDS [20th March – 27th April, 2012]

Course Description:

The course

will examine the inter-linkages between gender and HIV/AIDS, explore strategies

to mainstreaming gender and HIV/AIDS at policy, programmes and implementation

processes. However, there is limited gender conceptual clarity and application

skills among key decision makers, practitioners, civil societies and private

institutions and the inter-relationship with HIV/AIDS, policy and macro

economic issues. These limitations hamper efforts geared towards making gender

and HIV/AIDS cross-cutting issues in development policies, programmes and

The course

fee is US$300. There is a limited number of partial scholarships available for

applicants from developing countries, based on financial need.

2. Online Certificate Course on

Project Management from a Gender Perspective [22nd March – 27th

April, 2012]

Course Description:

This course is designed to equip participants with skills

for better management of community based development programmes. This course

will further provide the participants with a concrete ‘step-by-step’ approach

including hints and guidelines for developing and implementing a successful

project from a gender based perspective in order to achieve the Millennium

Development Goals, MDGs. It will further empower the participants to become

better able to assess needs, articulate a plan, mobilize resources and render

accounts, as well as effective evaluation of their organisation projects. For

and Development Training [5th April – 11th May, 2012]

Course Description:

The course

seeks to examine how gendered identities are formed and re-shaped as a result

of the development process – and responsive approaches in a variety of

historical and cultural contexts. It will equally explore how gender and

development relate to other categories of social identity and difference, such

as race, ethnicity, economic and social standing, urban or rural life, etc. The

course will explore activities such as: gender-awareness and self-awareness for

women and men; gender roles and needs; gender-sensitive appraisal

(gender-friendly participatory appraisal (PRA)) and planning; gender research

methodologies; gender and major global issues such as environment, culture and

economic crisis; working with counterparts on gender issues; gender and development;
