Guest guest
My 5 year old son is starting Kindergarten, and the school wants him to have his last HepB shot. I've read somewhere that a HepB shot after a certain age, or on older children, is " safe " (if that's possible), but I've searched the archives of several eGroups without success for this information. He had one in March or April before I discovered eGroups and had no difficulty, but I sure don't want to take any chances. His school has advised me they will put me in touch with one of the religious groups who do not want their children to be immunized, and then the school " codes " it differently. What do you think? Carol Cozad, Florida While a 5 year old is not affected by a given level of mercury all things being equal as a 1 year old, there is no way to predict whether it will have a significant effect. But mercury is neurotoxic and will kill and damage some brain and CNS cells, etc. and have other effects as well. Are you asking if it is likely to cause catastropic effects, as in autism, etc.?? Depends on the individual, previous exposures, susceptability, etc. but mercury free vaccines are available, and why are they doing Hep B anyway. What is the likely source of exposure to Hep B for a child?? Is this mostly to make someone some money. I never had one and am unlikely ever to. What has changed?
