I live in WA state.....I was wondering if there were any other folks that live out here and if you can sorta point me in the right direction. I need a DAN dr. And I need to know what test to start with. My boys are 6 and 7. and my daughter is 11. There peds has not tested them for anything....both boys were evaluated in Yakima and placed on the spectrum. But no other testing or help has been offered..I am pretty much on my own and not sure what tests to start with. We have been GF/CF and low phenols and salicyclates for over 3 years. We have had their hair tested for metals and minerals and they have lots of issues there. We have been doing vitamin and mineral chelation for most of those 3 years....thru an NDMD and have tried chemet 100 mg once a day for 3 on 4 off.....but were only to do it for a couple months as the meds drove all three of em crazy.... The 11 year old is not on any meds. The 7 year old is on Concerta and Risperdal. The 6 year old is all so med free except that he and the 7 year old also take thyroid meds. Any guidance would be appreciated. I know that we will soon be trying the enzymes from Houston. I believe that all 3 of them have candidace, bacteria and viral issues. But I believe we need to address the heavy metal problem soon... I just don't know exactly where to start....or what test to have done... Thanks in advance for listening an for any help you can offer. Ronni =======================================================
Guest guest
Hi Ronnie, If you're looking for help in chelating, my personal opinion is tht you've come to the right place. It sounds like things are very complicated for you. I would suggest that you might want to look at a couple of books that cover a lot of ground in regard to autism. One is Dr. Shaw's book called Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD. He goes over many things that are maybe less typical for many autistic kids. The other is the new ARI book by Pangborn and Baker. It's more introductory so you may be past it already. I would also suggest you try using ONIBASU which is the search engine for this list. It might help you find some information on key issues that concern you with your kids. Best of luck. I hope this helps. Anita > Hi my name is Ronni. Guest guest
Hi Ronni, Welcome to the list. I moved from the Seattle area to the Boston area last Oct. You're in luck, Andy Cutler, PhD in chemistry, mercury poisoning survivor, participator on this list, and author of Amalgam Illness and Interpreting Hair Tests lives in WA and consults with several doctors there. Start with a DDI hair elements test. If the doctor won't order from Doctor's Data Inc (DDI) then you can go through DLS (Direct Lab Services) though it costs more. If you go through DLS tell them you're on this list and they'll give you a discount. The phone # for DLS is 1-800-908-0000. When you get the results back apply the counting rules found in the FAQs of this list or post the results and we'll help you interpret it. If your children have any mercury amalgam dental fillings you will need to have those removed according to proper protocol by a mercury-free dentist before you can safely chelate. Guest guest
I have hear very good things about Dr. Green who is in Portland OR. Depending on where you are in WA state that may be close. To search for a DAN! Dr. go to the ARI web site, I found a list of DAN! drs there and I remember others being in WA. As a newbie you might read Dr. McCandlesses book Children with Starving Brains.
