Guest guest
had a bad case of croup 2 or 3 years ago. I thought only babies and toddlers got croup. I'm sorry to hear about the paramedic not doing all he could. I think the paramedics here have to get doctors orders before giving medications. At least Tim did many moons ago when he was a paramedic. Guess it's that time of year to deal with croup and RSV. Hope all the kids here are not effected this year. > everyone know that frankie once again had a bad case of croop

Guest guest
Angel, My heart really goes out to you. We experienced the same thing in April with Gavin (2 1/2), and I must say, that was the scariest experience. Now everytime he coughs, I get paranoid, thinking the same thing is going to happen!! But it seems you handled it VERY well. I am soo glad to hear that he is doing well and home from the hospital. Give him a big Hug!!! Traci P.S. - I would follow up on the paramedic and see what happens to him for this incident. Since it's happened before......it just may happen again too. Guest guest
Angel, Croup is the scariest!!! My son 7 non ds, has gotten it like 2-3 times a year since he's been little. He usually wants to go to the hosptial and if i try the hot water in the shower (steam the bathroom), he gets more upset. he has been hospitalized 2x because of it. At least now that he's 7, we hope he will finally " grow out of it. " Which is the good news about croup and thats its not asthma. We are really glad that ie is OK. I will be praying for him. What will happen with the emt gu? Please keep us posted! ~ mom to amanda 11 DS and jesse

Guest guest
had a bad case last week! We spent time at the hospital and made several trips to the pediatrician. Both were very good about taking immediate care of him and with a whole waiting room full of people, the hospital staff took him right back. I was a little worried about what the people would think, but as they called our name, I heard people say, It's about time, that baby needs to be seen! That made me feel better because we had only been sitting there about 3 minutes, so they must have known he was really needing to go back. Anyway, he is doing much better and was on several different kinds of meds. Thank goodness for drugs. There is nothing scarier to me, than seeing your child not be able to get a good breath! Glad ie is doing better!!!! Kym...mom to 4, including 4 year old with DS ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
We had a similar croup experience last week at Urgent Care, except we didn't even wait 3 minutes. After me being very frustrated with the " advice " nurse (she kept telling me they didn't do anything for croup, and I kept asking if I had to wait until the child was blue before I brought her in.... that kind of dialogue), ANYWAY, I finally demanded she have the pediatrician call me back. The Dr. (of course) told us to get right over to Urgent Care, and she called down and told Urgent Care we'd be in there in 10 minutes and be ready. She was down there waiting for us, and we didn't even sit down. I felt bad with a whole waiting room of people, but it was nice that the nurse at the desk shouted out to the back (and probably for the benefit of the waiting room) " Baby having trouble breating, coming back now! " Amazingly, after a shot and nebulizer treatement, we were out in 2 1/2 hours! Croup is a strange thing! One minute your child is terrified and having trouble breathing, and the next it's time to go. I don't want to make that drive again though....nothing like trying to drive and watch the back seat.
